TERMS · WHAT WE PROMISE AND WHAT WE DO NOT

The terms, in the words we would use out loud

This is the agreement between SKOPEIN and the business using it. It is short on purpose. If a sentence here is unclear, ask us and we will fix the sentence · not explain it away.

What you are buying

A small program that runs on a computer standing beside your recorder, plus the console at skopein.app where you set it up and look at what it found.

You describe what should never happen on a camera, in a sentence of your own words. When something moves, SKOPEIN checks that moment against your sentence and, if it matches, tells the people you chose · with the camera, the time, the reason and the clip that proves it. When nothing matches, it stays quiet, and the console can still show you what it decided was nothing.

We install it, we set the first questions up with you, and we are the people you call when something looks wrong.

What we do not promise

What it needs from you

SKOPEIN watches through your equipment. It needs your cameras working and aimed where you want them watched, your recorder running, the computer beside it left switched on, and an internet connection. If any of those stops, the watching stops.

WHAT WE DO PROMISE INSTEAD

The computer says "still here" every minute. If it goes quiet for five minutes, a message goes out saying nobody is watching that site · in practice you have it within about seven, because the check runs every two minutes rather than continuously. When a camera comes back you are told that too, along with how long it was dark · and that anything that happened in that window was not seen and cannot be recovered. Silence is the one thing we will never let pass unsaid.

After a power cut the program comes back on its own, provided it was given administrator rights once at the start · the install guide explains why that one click matters more than it looks.

Your account and your people

One account per business. You invite your own people to it and you decide who receives which alerts. A new account is switched on by us by hand before it can see anything, so that signing up is not the same as being let in.

You are responsible for who you invite, for taking off anyone who leaves, and for what is done through your account. Tell us straight away if you think somebody is in it who should not be.

Your cameras stay yours

Your footage is yours. We hold a small part of it for you · the clips and pictures of what was reported · and we do not sell it, share it or use it for anything but running this service for you. What we hold, where it goes and how long it stays is set out on the privacy page, and that page is part of these terms.

You can download your own setup · your cameras, your questions, the people who get told · as one file, at any time, so that a replaced computer or a lost database never means typing it all again.

Price and payment

There is no public price list, and that is deliberate: every site has a different number of cameras, and a camera pointed at a busy pavement costs several times what a stockroom camera costs to watch. We look at the site first, then quote a number, in writing.

What you pay and when is whatever that written quote says. If we ever want to change it, we say so before the period it would apply to · never afterwards on an invoice.

The daily questions

The part that costs real money is asking about a picture. So every camera has a number of questions a day that belongs to it.

When a camera reaches its number, SKOPEIN stops asking about that camera for the rest of the day rather than quietly running up a bill · and it keeps a picture of each movement it did not look at, so you can see what was set aside. The console says which camera it was and what to do about it: draw the area on that camera that actually matters, or raise its number. Serious questions and events inside an area you drew are asked first, so what runs out first is the noise.

A camera that is watching more than you are paying for is a conversation, not a surprise. We will always come and tell you.

Using it lawfully

You must have the right to watch the cameras you point SKOPEIN at, and to record the people they see. Where your local law asks for signs, put up the signs. Tell your staff. Do not aim a camera at a toilet, a changing room or a neighbour's property, and use the blacking-out tool for anything in a picture that should not be in it.

Do not use SKOPEIN to follow one individual around, and do not use it for anything the law where you are does not allow. If we find it being used that way we will stop the service, and we will say why.

Stopping

You can stop whenever you like. Tell us and we stop watching at the end of the period you have already paid for; we do not hold you to a year you no longer want. Download your setup before you go if you want to keep it.

After that your clips and pictures run out their normal keep-time and the storage deletes them; tell us and we will delete the account's history sooner. We can stop the service too · if an invoice goes unpaid after we have asked twice, or for the unlawful use above · and either way you get that in writing first, from a person, not as a switch flicked in the night.

What we are answerable for

We are answerable for running this service honestly and with care: for the software doing what this page and the privacy page say it does, for telling you when it stops watching, and for fixing it when it breaks.

We are not answerable for what a camera did not see, for a theft, a loss, an injury or a fine, or for your recorder, your computer or your internet going down. If we do owe you something, what we owe is capped at the fees you have paid us in the twelve months before · we are a small company selling a watching service, and we are not able to carry your insurance as well. Nothing here limits anything that the law where you are does not allow us to limit.

Changes to these terms

The date under the heading at the top is the day this page last changed. When we change something that matters we tell account holders by email and in the console before it takes effect. Carrying on using SKOPEIN after that is how you accept the change; if you do not want it, the previous section is how you stop.

Talking to us

Write to hello@skopein.app, or reply to any email we sent you. Everything in this product runs on Amman time, and so do we. If something goes wrong between us, our first move is a phone call, not a letter.

WRITTEN BY US, NOT BY A LAWYER · SEPTEMBER 18, 2026

This page has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. It is what we actually mean, written the way we would say it, and it is missing the formal parts a lawyer will want to add · which court decides a dispute among them. We would rather hand you something true with this note on it than a long document we had not read. A lawyer is reading it next; this note comes off the day that is done, and not a day before.
